In a statement on Wednesday, the office of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said the council called on Turkey to respect good neighborliness and engage diplomatically.

The Iraqi Prime Minister has appointed a delegation to visit Kurdistan to assess the situation and develop a joint response, Xinhua news agency cited the statement as saying.

Kurdish media reported that Turkish forces entered Iraqi territory near Amedee in recent days. Türkiye frequently conducts cross-border operations against PKK militants based in northern Iraq.

The PKK has been designated a terrorist group by Türkiye, the US and the European Union.
