New Delhi: Four former Union ministers including Smriti Irani have vacated their government bungalow in Lutyens' Delhi. Sources gave this information on Thursday.

He told that a high level meeting was held on the allotment of bungalows to the new ministers.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal is likely to be allotted 3, Krishna Menon Marg bungalow, which was earlier occupied by former Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, sources said.

The Estate Directorate under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA) allots government bungalows to Union ministers.

Irani had vacated her official bungalow at 28 Tughlaq Crescent in Lutyens' Delhi earlier this week, weeks after she lost the Amethi parliamentary seat to Congress leader Kishori Lal Sharma by a margin of over 1.5 lakh votes.

The former Women and Child Development Minister was branded a mass murderer after defeating Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the seat in 2019.

"He (Irani) vacated his official residence earlier this week," an official said. He said former ministers and MPs will have to vacate their official residence within a month of the formation of the new government.

Manohar Lal, whose ministry has the authority to allot bungalows to Union ministers, took oath as a cabinet minister last month.

The Union Minister is entitled to a Type VIII bungalow in Lutyens Delhi.

Officials said that as one month has passed since the formation of the new government, the Estate Directorate will start sending notices to the former ministers, asking them to vacate the government residence.
