Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) put up a collective effort to register a 35-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday. RCB ended their six-match losing streak with a strong performance in all aspects of the game. A slow, deteriorating pitch played in favor of the visitors as, unlike previous games, SRH's destructive opening pair failed to spread their wings in the powerplay. Will Jacques dismissed Travis Head (1) on the last ball of the first over, Abhishek Sharma (31) showed intent but Yash Dayal got the better of the young left-handed opener in the fourth over. The middle-order set-up supporting the opening pair failed to get SRH out of trouble.The spin duo of Swapnil Singh and Karn Sharma troubled the hosts' middle order a bit and put RCB in the driver's seat. Captain Pat Cummins tried to raise hopes of an unprecedented comeback by scoring 31 runs in 15 balls. At the other end, Shahbaz Ahmed continued to fight single-handedly but in the end SRH fell behind by 35 runs. Earlier in the innings, RCB chose to bat first, with star batsman Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis ensuring RCB got off to a strong start with the bat as the opening pair thrashed the SRH bowlers all around the ground. After this, captain Pat Cummins brought T Natarajan into the attack and the bowler gave his team the much-needed success by dismissing RCB captain Faf de Plessis.Natarajan's slow bouncer overpowered Du Plessis. Mayank Markande was brought into the attack by Cummins, who proved useful and got the wicket of Will Jacques, who never looked settled at the crease. Rajat Patidar made a sensational attack on Mayank Markande in the third over of the night, as He beat the bowler. 27 runs. Star batsman Patidar completed his 50-run partnership with Kohli and also scored fifty runs in 19 balls. Jaydev Unadkat got the big wicket for SRH as he dismissed in-form Patida on the very next ball after completing his half-century. Kohli hit a resilient half-century inside 37 balls, however, the former RCB skipper was dismissed by Unadkat with a power-less shot after scoring 51 runs in 4 balls.Unadkat took his third wicket of the night by dismissing Mahipal Lomror in his 100th IPL match. After losing wickets at regular intervals, RCB managed to score 206/7 in 20 overs.
