Pune: Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said here on Thursday that the death of 26-year-old chartered accountant Anna Sebastian Parayil is being investigated.

Sebastian, who worked with SR Batliboi, a member company of EY Global, died of cardiac arrest in Pune this July. His mother had this month written to EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani criticizing the "glorification" of overwork at the multinational consulting firm.

"Whether it is a white-collar job or any other job, workers or employees at any level...if a citizen of any country dies, we are obviously saddened by it. The matter is under investigation and Steps will be taken." Basis of investigation,” the Union Minister said here.

He was speaking on the sidelines of an event organized under the 'Vikas Bharat Ambassador - Youth Connect' initiative at SP College.

Union Minister of State Shobha said, "I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Anna Sebastian Peryal. A thorough investigation is underway into the allegations of an unsafe and exploitative work environment.
