New Delhi: Due to intermittent rain and cloudy sky in Delhi on Thursday, the maximum temperature dropped to 31.7 degrees Celsius, which is six degrees below normal.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in Delhi in the next four to five days.

It rained early in the morning in the national capital with the city's primary weather station Safdarjung recording 0.6 mm rainfall, Lodhi Road 0.6 mm while Palam observatory recorded 2.1 mm rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.

The Meteorological Department said that the maximum temperature of Delhi was 31.7 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.8 degrees Celsius.

According to the IMD weather bulletin, relative humidity ranged between 77 percent and 100 percent.

The department has predicted generally cloudy sky with light rain and lightning along with thunderstorms on Friday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) also reported two incidents of falling of trees at DDA Market Shopping Complex in Okhla Phase II and Gulmohar Park.

Intermittent rain on Thursday led to waterlogging in many areas and affected traffic across the city as commuters struggled to reach their destinations.

MCD said waterlogging was seen at some places in Dilshad Garden, Hari Kunj, Saket, IGNOU Road area and Block-S.

On Rohtak Road on both carriageways from Rajdhani Park towards Mundka, Phirni Road from Bahadurgarh Stand towards Jharoda Village, Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Dwarka Sector 19B near OPG World School, Chandkiram Akhara Red Light, from Dhaula Kuan to Mahipalpur. Traffic moved at a crawl on NH-48. Dwarka Sector-1 Crossing, Tis Hazari towards Kashmere Gate and Pulbangash Road.
