Thane: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for repeatedly targeting him and NCP (SP) president Sharad Pava and claimed that he would rather seek the post of Prime Minister again than make way for the next generation. Eager to achieve.

Addressing an election rally in Thane on Thursday to campaign for sitting MP and his constituency candidate Rajan Vichare, Thackeray described the contest as a contest between loyalty and betrayal.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has nominated Naresh Mhaske for the Thane Lok Sabha constituency, where 12 other seats, including six in Mumbai, will go to polls in the fifth phase on May 20.

The contest in Thane is a prestige battle for Shinde, an influential leader from the region, who split the parent Shiv Sena and formed an alliance with the BJP in 2022.

However, Thackeray mainly focused on Modi and his policies. He accused Modi of creating controversy through his rhetoric and claimed that the BJP was changing its rhetoric, from promises of winning majority to allegations of dynasty politics.

Sena (UBT) hit out at Modi for repeatedly targeting him and Sharad Pawar. In his recent speeches, Modi had called Thackeray's party a "fake army" and described Pawar as a "wandering soul".

He claimed that Modi is eager to get back the post of Prime Minister rather than paving the way for the next generation.

Thackeray defended the coalition model, citing its past successes and comparing it to perceived stagnation under one-party rule.

"Thackeray said there is a unique relationship between Shiv Sena and Thane as the city had given a strong base to the party in its initial days," he said.
