New Delhi [India], Indian Naval Ship Sunayna has visited Port Victoria in Seychelles where the ship will conduct joint Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ) surveillance with the Seychelles Coast Guard during her deployment.

INS Sunayna, an offshore patrol ship based at the Southern Naval Command, entered Port Victoria, Seychelles in company of Seychelles Coast Guard Ship (SCGS) Zoroaster on Saturday last week.

Notably, Zoroaster had recently completed her minor refit at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE), India.

The visit of INS Sunayna to Seychelles is aimed at further strengthening the camaraderie and mutual cooperation between the two navies in line with the vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region).

Following its arrival, INS Sunayna was welcomed by the Seychelles Coast Guard and Indian Embassy officials.

Additionally, during the ship's visit, personnel from the Indian Navy and Seychelles Defense Forces will engage in official and social interactions and cross-deck visits.

During the deployment the ship will conduct joint EEZ surveillance with the Seychelles Coast Guard.

Earlier in March, INS Tir, lead ship of the First Training Squadron (1TS), participated in Exercise Cutlass Express 24 (CE-24) conducted off Port Victoria, Seychelles from 26 February to 8 March.

The exercise was inaugurated by the President of Seychelles in the presence of dignitaries from India, the US and African countries. As part of Cutlass Express, the Indian Navy is actively engaged with participants from 16 friendly foreign countries.

The exercise culminated in a closing ceremony held at the Seychelles Defense Academy, Ile Perseverance on 24 March. The Indian Navy has been participating in the exercise since 2019.
