Bhubaneswar: Two masked persons threw ink on Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Sharat Patnaik at the party's state headquarters here on Friday morning.

A senior leader said the incident took place around 11.30 am when two unidentified persons entered Patnaik's room and splashed blue ink on his clothes before fleeing from the spot.

Patnaik later told reporters, "I am not afraid of such incidents... People who are jealous of the Congress's development in the state are behind it."

The Congress leader later participated in a protest against alleged irregularities in the conduct of the NEET-UG 2024 exam.

Congress spokesperson Vishwaranjan Mohanty said an investigation would be conducted and appropriate action would be taken.

BJP spokesperson Dilip Malik claimed that the incident was the result of internal discord in the Congress.

"The ink attack was a reflection of the anger of Congress workers against Patnaik," he alleged.

He said, Congress is pointing fingers at other parties to gain sympathy.
