“A new trend has emerged of bringing Pakistan into the elections both at the national and local levels. Pakistan is in its weakest position in the last 75 years. An unimportant issue like Pakistan is being made important. India faces big issues like price rise and unemployment,” Azad said.

The former Chief Minister expressed disappointment over Pakistan being made an issue in the elections.

"Internal issues like inflation and unemployment need to be given more priority than external distractions," Azad said.

He said that this time the Lok Sabha elections are completely different as compared to the previous elections.

“A lot of mud is being thrown. Every political party is trying to take advantage of itself, which is not good for politics.

He said that the essence of healthy political discourse is compromised by "excessive point-scoring" when political parties compete for supremacy.

Emphasizing the need for constructive engagement, he emphasized that political opponents are not enemies but competitors in the democratic arena.

He also attacked regional political parties over the removal of Article 370.

“After the abrogation of Article 370, what did the local parties do? No MP from Kashmir spoke on the removal of Article 370. Those who are labeling me a BJP supporter were part of the BJP in the past. The allegations make no sense,” the former chief minister said.

He said that despite the natural beauty and favorable climate of Jammu and Kashmir, there is a need to utilize these assets for economic development.
