Jakarta [Indonesia], Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen on Thursday defeated Japan's Kenta Nishimoto to enter the quarter-finals of the ongoing Indonesia Open 2024.

In the third round of the men's singles match of the tournament, Lakshya defeated Nishimoto 9-21 and 15-21. This match lasted for 45 minutes.

Lakshya dominated the game from the first moment. The Indian shuttler won the first set 9-21. In the second set, the Japanese shuttler tried to make a comeback but the Indian player maintained patience and won it 15-21.

Earlier in the tournament, the Indian badminton player easily defeated Kenta Tsuneyama of Japan 21-12, 21-17 in a 40-minute match.

On the other hand, Indian shuttler Priyanshu Rajawat had to concede defeat in the third round against Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn on Thursday.

In the men's singles match of the tournament, Rajawat lost the match against Vitidsarn by 21-10 and 21-17. This match lasted for 49 minutes.

The Thai shuttlers took the lead in the match right from the start of the game. The Indians lost the first set 21-10. During the second set, Rajawat tried to make a comeback but failed and Vitidsarn won it 21–17.

In the previous round of Indonesia Open, Priyanshu Rajawat defeated his fellow Indian HS Prannoy 21-17, 21-12 in just 39 minutes in men's singles.

This was Prannoy's first defeat in four matches against his junior compatriot.
