New Delhi: IndiaSkills, the country's biggest skills competition, will start from Wednesday and over 900 students from over 30 states and union territories will participate in it.

IndiaSkills winners, with the help of industry trainers, will prepare for the WorldSkills competition to be held in Lyon, France in September 2024 and will bring together 1,500 competitors from over 70 countries.

The four-day IndiaSkills will allow participants to showcase their diverse skills and talents on a national platform across 61 skills "ranging from traditional crafts to cutting-edge technologies".

"47 skill competitions will be conducted onsite, while 14 will be conducted offsite, keeping in mind the best infrastructure available in Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat," an official statement said.

The participants will participate in 9 exhibition skills like Drone-Filming, Textile-Weaving, Leather-Shoe-Making and Prosthetics-Makeup.

Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) said that the IndiaSkills competition opens new avenues of opportunity for skilled youth, empowering them to dream beyond traditional boundaries and showcase their skills on the global platform. .

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said that this year participants will get the opportunity to earn credit under the National Credit Framework.

Around 2.5 lakh candidates had registered for the competition on the Skill Indie Digital Hub (SIDH) portal, of which 26,000 were shortlisted through the pre-screening process.
