New Delhi [India], Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk for congratulating him on his election victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Responding to Musk in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said the talented Indian youth, demographics, predictable policies and stable democratic system will continue to create a favorable business environment in the country.
PM Narendra Modi said in his post, "I appreciate your congratulations @ElonMusk. The talented Indian youth, our demography, predictable policies and stable democratic politics will continue to provide a conducive business environment for all our partners."
On June 7, Musk congratulated the Indian PM on being elected Prime Minister of India for the third time. In a post on his X timeline, Musk said that he hopes his companies will do exciting work in India."Congratulations, Narendra Modi, on your victory in the world's largest democratic election! I look forward to the exciting work my companies will do in India," Musk posted on Twitter.
According to various media reports, Tesla is interested in setting up manufacturing plants in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The expected size of the investment was estimated to be between $2 billion and $3 billion, according to reports.
In July last year, the company had said that it wants to build a factory in the country to make such a car which will cost around Rs 17,30,000.
Musk was scheduled to visit India in April this year, but at the last moment he delayed his visit to India and visited China.Musk had said, "Unfortunately, the India trip was delayed due to very heavy Tesla obligations, but I am very much looking forward to the trip later this year."
The government is actively working to promote domestic manufacturing in the electric vehicle sector.
In addition to the FAME initiative launched in 2019, recently, it reduced import taxes on some EVs for manufacturers who promised to invest at least USD 500 million and start manufacturing within three years .
