New Delhi [India], Sumesh Patel, President, SITA, Asia Pacific, said, India's aviation sector has improved significantly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to ANI, he also emphasized that the Modi government's focus on aviation has significantly increased the number of airports, ensuring wider access to air travel for the Indian population.

"There has been an increase in airports under the leadership of the Modi government, they have a huge focus on aviation. And that's obviously making sure that everyone or every person in India can fly," Patel said.

SITA is a global company that provides information and telecommunications (ICT) solutions to the air transport industry.Patel highlighted that India represents an important market for companies operating in the aviation sector, attributing the rapid growth of the industry to supportive government policies and infrastructure development.

“I think India has been a key market for us. We have been in India since 1969 and in fact, Air India was our first Asia Pacific member which joined us in 1952. So we have been serving this industry for a very long time. India is definitely a major market for us.Aviation is one of the fastest growing markets at the moment. So from SITA's perspective our commitment is very strong in the India context."

SITA's expansion efforts in India include significant investments in back-office operations and software development, particularly in Delhi and Gurugram. This strategy not only supports the growth of the aviation sector but also contributes to the broader economic development of the region. By expanding its operations in India, SITA aims to take advantage of the country's growing aviation market, which is one of the fastest growing markets globally."So we are doing a lot of our back office and software development work in India, particularly in Delhi and Gurugram. So we are investing quite heavily and expanding quite heavily in India," Patel said.

He also highlighted that the company plans to bring new technology to India's aviation sector at the lowest cost.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), India's aviation sector is expected to grow over the next ten years, overtaking China and the United States as the world's third-largest air passenger market by 2030.

Furthermore, the increasing demand in the region has increased the number of airlines operating in the region. The number of aircraft is expected to reach 1,100 aircraft by 2027.
