Yangon (Myanmar), India's senior women's football team had a much better performance, drawing 1-1 with hosts Myanmar to break a series of defeats in their second and final friendly match here on Friday.

The Blue Tigresses, who had suffered a 1-2 defeat in the opening match on Tuesday, dominated the first half in a rain-lashed kick-off but were held in check by a solid Myanmar defense and a sodden penalty area.

India's Pyari Xaxa finally broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, scoring her first goal in as many games. However, the home team's all-time leading scorer, Win Theingi Tun, scored the equalizer two minutes later. After that, both teams created several chances but neither could find the winning goal.

India head coach Chaoba Devi made one change to the team that had lost the first friendly, replacing Sandhiya Ranganathan with Karishma Shirvoikar. Mousumi Murmu, 19, arrived in the second half to make his senior debut for India.

India attacked in waves from the beginning and came close to taking the lead in the opening minutes. Soumya Guguloth's perfectly struck ball over the hosts' backline was collected by Myanmar goalkeeper Myo Mya Mya Nyein before an outstretched Anju Tamang could connect.

Minutes later, a corner taken by Anju ended up at the feet of Sangita Basfore, but the midfielder was unable to get the ball out of the puddle just six meters from the goal.

Xaxa's chance in the seventh minute was perhaps India's best in the first half as he managed to pass cleanly towards goal but was thwarted by the goalkeeper.

India attacked with more intent than in the first game and as a result, the ball remained constantly in Myanmar's court for the first 45 minutes.

As the rain eased, the game became more fluid. India missed a decent chance on the half-hour mark, with Karishma Shirvoikar shooting wide from outside the box.

Pyari finally gave India the lead in the 48th minute. The Odisha FC forward took advantage of a long clearance from Panthoi before beating Lin Lae Oo and beating the Myanmar goalkeeper.

However, the joy was short-lived as Myanmar equalized less than two minutes later thanks to their striker Win Theingi Tun, who scored from the far post with a first-time shot following an inviting cross from the right by Yoon Wady Hlaing.

Both teams stayed busy searching for the winning goal and came close on a few occasions.

Myanmar had a good chance to score the second goal in the 61st minute but was thwarted by Loitongbam Ashalata Devi. Yoon Wady Hlaing took advantage of a cut by Win Theingi Tun and fired a powerful shot at goal, which the Indian captain headed off the goal line.
