The Defense Ministry statement said the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) conducted field trials of the high altitude deployable Zorawar in desert terrain and it performed exceptionally well, efficiently meeting all the intended objectives.

In the initial phase, the firing performance of the tank was rigorously evaluated and it achieved the required accuracy on designated targets.

Zorawar has been successfully developed by Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) under DRDO in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro Limited. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh appreciated DRDO, Indian Army and all associated industry partners for the successful trials of the Indian Light Tank. He described the achievement as an important milestone towards India's goal of self-reliance in critical defense systems and technologies.
