Yecheon (South Korea), Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh assured India of their second medal at the Archery World Cup Stag 2 by entering the compound mixed team final here on Friday.

The compound women's team of Jyoti, Preneet Kaur and Aditi Swami has secured India's first medal by making it to the finals on Wednesday.

Young compound archer Prathamesh Phuge is also eyeing a medal after reaching the semi-finals of the individual category.

The Indian compound mixed team, ranked No. 2 in the world, lost only two points from 16 arrows to beat the host nation's pair of Han Seungyo and Yang Jaewon 158-157 in a tight semi-final.

Jyoti and Priyansh will face USA's Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan in the gold medal match on Saturday in the category of top two world-ranked nations.

The fourth-seeded pair had earlier defeated Vietnam 159-152 in the first round of 16, but missed the target only once in 16 arrows.

India then overcame strong resistance from fifth seed Mexico to win 156-155 in a tight quarterfinal.

The recurve mixed team of Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai, who have over 34 years of combined international experience, will return empty handed after losing in the quarters.

After qualifying as second seeds, the pair got off to a poor start and lost to 10th seed Spain 2-6 (33-37, 36-38, 39-34, 34-36).

He lost seven points in the first set after hitting the red-ring twice (7 and 8) and lost the second set as well.

After trailing 0-4, they won the third set but their good performance continued and the Spaniards took it in the fourth set.

The recurve archers are already out of medal contention in the team events and will hope to save some glory in the individual rounds starting in the afternoon.
