New Delhi, The Indian Air Force on Thursday joined the 16-day multi-nation mega military exercise in Alaska, US, which is designed to provide realistic training to the participating forces in a simulated combat environment.

The Indian Air Force had deployed Rafale fighter jets for the 'Red Flag Alaska' exercise from May 30 to June 14. U.S. Pacific AI Forces said approximately 3,100 service members are expected to fly, maintain and support more than 100 aircraft during the exercise.

"A contingent of #IAF today arrived at @USAAirForce's Eielson AF Base, Alaska, USA to participate in the upcoming edition of multinational exercise Red Flag 24," the IAF said on Twitter.

"With the support of its IL-78 air-to-air refuellers and C-17 transport aircraft, IAF Rafale fighter aircraft conducted a transatlantic flight with stopovers in Greece and Portugal," it said.

Pacific Air Forces said Red Flag-Alaska is designed to provide realistic training in a simulated combat environment that teaches tactics, techniques and procedures to combined joint forces while improving interoperability with fellow service members. Enables exchange.
