Union Minister for Industry and Commerce Piyush Goyal said India and the United States share one of the most strategic and consequential relations with shared interests in bilateral and geopolitical issues.

Both countries have taken a big step towards expanding the global semiconductor supply chain. The US State Department will collaborate with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, to explore ways to grow and diversify the semiconductor ecosystem.

This initiative will be supported by the International Technology Innovation and Security (ITSI) fund, which was established by the CHIPS Act of 2022.

Delivering the keynote address at the 49th annual general meeting of the United States-India Business Council (USIBC) in the national capital, the minister also emphasized the need for a global coalition against terrorism.

Paying tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York, Minister Goyal said the attack reminds the world of the dangers posed by terrorism.

“India has been suffering for decades from terrorism promoted across our borders. Acts like September 11, divisive tendencies, inflammatory and false propaganda must be denounced,” the minister stated.

He added that the 9/11 attack showed the tremendous resilience of the people of the United States of America and demonstrated the need for solidarity among like-minded nations. Shri Goyal said that such dastardly acts of terrorism emphasize the importance of a global coalition against terrorism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is working on the principle of “Reform-Realize-Transform”. The Minister of Commerce emphasized that the reforms in the government will help the country perform and transform the lives of compatriots.

Emphasizing the importance of disseminating information about reforms in India, he urged the participants present to disseminate to the world the experience they have working with India.

Evoking Swami Vivekananda's speech delivered in Chicago in 1893, the minister said the speech resonates deeply with the USIBC Summit theme on partnership and prosperity in the era of AI and critical technologies.
