New Delhi [India], India on Wednesday confirmed its participation in the upcoming global peace summit in Switzerland aimed at paving the way for peace in Ukraine, scheduled to be held on June 15-16.

Addressing a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said a decision regarding India's representative to attend the peace summit will be communicated after it is taken.

"India will participate in the peace summit to be held in Switzerland at an appropriate level. This is under consideration in the system right now. We will look into it as and when we have a decision on India's representative participating," Vinay Kwatra said on Wednesday. I would be more than happy to share it with you.,

According to the Kyiv Independent, Ukraine wants to strengthen international support for its peace plan at the upcoming global peace summit to be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland.

Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky extended a warm invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Ukraine at a "convenient time".

The invitation came during a phone conversation between the two leaders, where Zelensky congratulated PM Modi on his recent election victory and wished for early government formation.

On April 11, Swiss President and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis announced that Switzerland would host a high-level international conference in June bringing together more than 100 countries to chart a path toward peace in Ukraine after more than two years of war. Will be invited to help.

The summit is part of Ukraine's ongoing effort to garner diplomatic support for its 10-point peace plan announced in November 2022, which includes the full withdrawal of Russian troops and accountability for war crimes committed by Russia.The meetings of heads of state and government are aimed at developing a common understanding towards a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

Ukraine hopes summit attendees will develop an action plan on three key aspects of its 10-point peace plan. The first point, free navigation, involves the security of port infrastructure in the Black Sea and global food security. The second focus is energy and nuclear security, including ending attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. And the third focus will be prisoner exchanges and the return of illegally abducted children to Russia.Meanwhile, Russia refused its participation in the 'Ukraine Peace Summit'. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei said he would not participate in any events supporting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's "peace formula."

Speaking in an interview with a local Russian news outlet, Sergei Lavrov said, "When our Swiss colleagues say they want to invite Russia to the conference first, they are not telling the truth. We want to promote Volodymyr Zelensky. The donors will not participate in any program.” Peace formula in some form or the other.,

The summit is the highest level event to date in Ukraine's "Peace Formula" initiative. It follows four lower-level conferences held from June 2023.
