A workshop titled “Sugar and Biofuels: Emerging Visions” will be organized at Bharat Mandapam on June 25. which will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi.

International delegates, senior management of Indian sugar mills, industry associations such as ISMA and NFCSF and technical experts will participate in the workshop.

This forum is expected to provide an opportunity for over 200 delegates from different parts of the world to discuss the world's future outlook on the global sugar sector, biofuels, sustainability and the role of farmers.

The workshop also aims to strengthen the Global Biofuels Alliance, an initiative of Prime Minister Narender Modi, to bring together countries to promote the development and adoption of sustainable biofuels in the world in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. greenhouse.

Many member countries of ISO and the Global Biofuels Alliance are common and this can be another forum to expand the alliance and promotion of biofuels.

The International Sugar Organization (ISO) is a United Nations affiliated body based in London. It has around 85 countries as members covering almost 90 percent of the world's sugar production. It is mandated to bring together major sugar producing, consuming and trading countries to achieve mutual understanding and a progressive approach in addressing issues related to the sugar sector.

The ISO has also been working on biofuels, especially ethanol, since sugar cane is the second largest raw material for ethanol production in the world.

Various ISO committee meetings will be held on June 26 and 27, which will focus on administrative and functional aspects of the organization.
