He was speaking at a side event organized by India on women, children and adolescent health at the WHA.

Chandra, who is leading the Indian delegation to the WHA, underlined "India's commitment" to implement proactive actions for the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents.

He also highlighted India's "Reproductive and Child Health (RCH)-I, RCH-I Initiative and National Adolescent Health Programme, with emphasis on adolescent health".

The Health Secretary noted the launch of TeleManas, as part of the National Tele-Mental Health Program in India, as an important initiative taken by the country to promote mental health.

He also stressed the need to "use the right communication strategies to get the message across to the adolescent audience group", including involving youth group representatives in the planning and implementation of any programme.

The event focused on adolescent health and various speakers talked about various aspects of adolescent health including the need to invest more in this issue.
