New York [US], India has highlighted its significant contribution to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) resources during an interactive dialogue at the world body.

India's first Secretary to the UN for the Second Committee of the UNGA, Patel Gehlot, on Tuesday (local time) stressed that UNDP was a knowledge partner on digital public infrastructure during India's G20 chairmanship.

He also pointed to the joint work of India and UNDP on SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) localization and multidimensional poverty index in India.

"Today participated in an interactive dialogue with @UNDP Administrator @ASteiner and highlighted India's partnership with the organization: - India's significant contribution to UNDP resources - As a knowledge partner on DPI during India's G20 Presidency UNDP – Joint work on SDG localization and multidimensional poverty index in India,” the Indian diplomat posted on the social media platform X.

In April, the first United Nations International Conference on Digital Public Infrastructure was held under the leadership of India.India's Permanent Representative to the UN Ruchira Kamboj said the conference aims to use technology to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote inclusivity.

The conference highlighted India's pioneering Citizen Stack initiative, inspired by the transformative India Stack, which showcases the country's successful integration of technology into citizen services. The event is an important step towards promoting international cooperation for the development of digital infrastructure globally.

The session organized by the Permanent Mission of India and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in collaboration with iSPIRT, the inaugural United Nations Conference on Digital Public Infrastructure: Citizen Stack brought together global leaders, technology innovators and policy experts to explore global Implementation of digital public infrastructure, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations said in a statement.In her inaugural address, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj underlined India's dedication to enhancing the global discussion on digital transformation.

G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant also delivered a compelling keynote address on “Advancing the Digital Frontier using the Citizen Stack”, highlighting the significant changes brought by DPI in governance.

The conference also showcased case studies showing how components of modular open source identity platforms such as Citizen Stack are helping countries like Ethiopia and the Philippines tailor DPI to their specific needs and achieve digital sovereignty.
