New Delhi, India will play three T20 Internationals and as many ODIs in Pallekele and Colombo during their tour of Sri Lanka in July and August, the BCCI announced on Thursday.

The white-ball tour will begin with T20Is (26, 27, 29 July) at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and then the series will move to Colombo where the ODIs will be played (1, 4, 7 August). R Premadasa International Stadium.

India will be led by newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir, while Sri Lanka will have a new coach in Sanath Jayasuriya.

Gambhir recently replaced Rahul Dravid, who led India to their second T20 World Cup title in the US, while Jayasuriya replaced Chris Silverwood.

India have not yet announced the squad for the series, but according to reports on July 8, senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be rested for the tour.

It is expected that Hardik Pandya may get the command of the T20 team, while KL Rahul may be appointed the captain of the ODI team.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, who were eliminated in the group stage of the T20 World Cup, will also get a new captain after Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down from his post on Thursday.

This will be India's first white-ball bilateral tour to the island nation since 2021. At that time, Dravid was the stand-in coach and Shikhar Dhawan was leading the second-row team.

The tourists had won both the T20I and ODI series on that occasion.
