New Delhi, India and Chile have agreed to cooperate closely with each other in combating technology-enabled crimes, drug trafficking and transnational crimes.

These issues were discussed during the visit of Chilean Ambassador Juan Angulo to the CBI headquarters here on Monday.

The two sides also decided to hold workshops for capacity building to tackle technology-enabled crimes, exchange criminal investigation techniques and share best practices in digital forensics, a CBI statement said.

Police Attaché PDI (Polícia de Investigación de Chile) Rafael Andres Tellez Benucci, who was part of the delegation, held discussions with CBI Director Praveen Sood.

Both sides agreed on close cooperation between CBI and PDI especially in the area of ​​combating technology-enabled crimes, drug trafficking and transnational crimes.

Thanking CBI for the exchange of expertise on forensics and combating organized crime, Benucci underlined the importance of collaborative efforts and thanked CBI for arranging events in the past with PDI, Chile.

"The Chilean delegation also visited the Global Operations Center of the CBI. Discussions were held on strengthening the collaborative framework for police cooperation," the CBI statement said.

Ambassador Angulo thanked CBI for its collaborative spirit and reiterated his commitment to enhance cooperation. "Both sides agreed to enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement cooperation," the statement said.
