Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said the India alliance has crossed the numbers predicted by exit polls and claimed that the opposition faction will win 295 Lok Sabha seats.

Speaking to reporters, Raut said the Congress, which had barely got 50 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, is now on its way to securing 150 seats.

Counting of votes was going on across the country on Tuesday for the 543-member Lok Sabha elections.

"The picture is that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will be ahead in Maharashtra and the Bharat alliance will win 295 (seats in the country)," Raut claimed.

The Rajya Sabha member said, "India alliance has surpassed the exit poll projections and is ahead. It will cross 295 seats."

Early trends showed the Congress-led India Bloc leading on 200 seats, a much better performance than exit polls had predicted.
