Hulunbuir: Defending champions India won their fifth Hero Asian Champions Trophy hockey title with a hard-fought 1-0 win over hosts China here on Tuesday.

It was not easy for the favorites and Paris Olympics bronze medalists as they failed to break the Chinese defense in the first three quarters.

Eventually, defender Jugraj Singh broke the deadlock and scored a rare field goal in the 51st minute to give his team the title.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan defeated Korea 5-2 to finish third in the six-team competition.
