Dhaka [Bangladesh], Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, interacted with Security Advisor to Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Major General Tarique Ahmed Siddique (Retd.) in Dhaka and discussed improvement of long-standing relations between the two nations through defense cooperation.

Earlier on July 2, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi called on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as part of her ongoing visit to the neighboring country. During the discussions, Sheikh Hasina appreciated India's contribution to the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.

"Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi CNS, on an official visit to Bangladesh, visited HE Sheikh Hasina, Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh on July 24. During the discussions, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh recalled and appreciated India's contribution to the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971," the Indian Navy said in a post on X, following the meeting between the Indian Navy Chief and Sheikh Hasina.

"The CNS briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of the ongoing bilateral maritime engagements between the Indian Navy and the Bangladesh Navy," the post said.

On Tuesday, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi interacted with the Commandant of the National Defense College, Lieutenant General Md Saiful Alam, faculty and staff, and gave an overview of the changes in the security environment in the broader region of the Indo-Pacific from a naval perspective.

The Navy Chief, who is on an official visit to Bangladesh, visited the National Defense College on Tuesday. During the visit, he interacted with the Commander, Lieutenant General, teachers, staff and officers of the National Defense College.

"Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi #CNS, during his visit to National Defense College, #NDC Bangladesh interacted with Commander Lieutenant General Md Saiful Alam, teachers, staff and officers undergoing NDC," Indian Navy said in a post on X.

Furthermore, in his address to the NDC “Class of 2024”, the Navy Chief gave an overview of geopolitical trends.

"In his address to NDC #Classof2024, on the topic 'Turbulent times and tides: following a steady course', #CNS provided an overview of geopolitical trends and changes in the security environment in the broader #IndoPacific region #IPR from a naval perspective," the Indian Navy stated.

The CNS further highlighted these trends, including opportunities for like-minded nations in the Indo-Pacific region to cooperate and collaborate in line with the Indian government's vision of SAGAR to ensure a free, open, peaceful and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

"#CNS highlighted the 'so what' of these trends, including opportunities for like-minded nations on #IPR to cooperate and collaborate aligned with the Government of India's vision of #SAGAR and #IPOI to ensure free #IPR, open, peaceful and inclusive for shared peace and prosperity for all coastlines in the #IndianOceanRegion," the Indian Navy stated in X.

The Navy Chief is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his counterpart Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Naval Staff of Bangladesh Navy in Dhaka and also review the Passing Out Parade scheduled at Bangladesh Naval Academy ( BNA) in Chittagong on July 4, the launch added.

Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi is on an official visit to Bangladesh for four days from July 1 to 4. The visit aims to consolidate bilateral defense relations between India and Bangladesh and explore new avenues for naval cooperation, according to a press release from the Indian Navy.

India and Bangladesh share links of history, language, culture and a host of other commonalities. The excellent bilateral ties reflect a comprehensive partnership based on sovereignty, equality, trust and understanding that goes far beyond a strategic partnership.
