New Delhi [India]: If India make it to the knockouts, they will play the second semi-final of the ICC T2 World Cup in Providence, Guyana on June 27, ESPN Cricinfo reported on Tuesday. India have probably been allotted the Guyana semi-final due to the timing of the match as the first semi-final, scheduled to be held in Taruba, Trinidad on June 26 at 8:30 pm local time, is a night game. However, the Guyana semi-finals will start at 10:30 am local time, which is a TV-friendly slot of 8 pm Indian Standard Time. According to ESPN Cricinfo, the final to be held in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29 will start at 1pm local time, with India starting at 7:30pm. According to playing conditions obtained by ESPN Cricinfo, there will be no reserve day for the second semi-final.However, 250 minutes of extra time will be given for the matches instead of the 190 minutes previously given for the semi-finals and final, which have reserve days. The extra hour of overtime has been added because reserve days are not allowed in the tournament schedule. If there had been a reserve day for semi-final two, it would have meant a gap of only one day for recovery and practice between that game and the final. If it rains continuously then the second semi-final may be in trouble because according to the rules, the result can be decided only when both the teams bat for at least 10 overs. In most T20 games, teams batting second have to bat for at least only five overs to get a result. This system will be applicable for most of the matches of the ICC T20 World Cup. But in knockout games, teams batting second must face at least 10 overs to decide the result as per the Duckworth-Lewis method. The same was the case for the knockout matches in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. India have been placed in Group A of the ICC tournament along with arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and co-hosts USA. India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 5, followed by.The marquee clash will take place against Pakistan at the same venue on June 9.
