Chandigarh: According to the Election Commission, independent candidate Sarabjit Singh Khalsa won the Faridkot seat of Punjab by defeating AAP's Karamjit Singh Anmol.

Khalsa defeated Anmol by 70,053 votes.

Khalsa is the son of one of the two assassins of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Counting of votes for 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab started at 8 am amid tight security arrangements.
