Leh: Independent candidate Mohammed Hanifa is leading over his Congress and BJP rivals in the Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency, according to preliminary data provided by the Election Commission.

Counting of votes for the constituency, which recorded 71.82 per cent turnout, is underway at designated centers in Leh and Kargil districts.

According to official trends from the constituency till around 10 am, Congress candidate Tsering Namgyal got 3,200 votes and BJP's Tashi Gyalson got 2,724 votes, while Hanifa got 8,906 votes.

BJP won this seat in the 2014 general elections and retained it in 2019. Congress has won this seat maximum six times. 6/2/2024 ANB
