Mathura (UP), Ramon Magsaysay awardee Rajendra Singh said a nationwide campaign 'Pani Panchayat' will be organized in Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti to address the serious water crisis facing India and the world.

Singh, popularly known as 'Waterman of India', said on Thursday, "These days the world is facing a serious water crisis, due to which people of one country are forced to take refuge in other countries in search of food and water." It has to happen."

He emphasized that India is also facing a serious water crisis, with people being displaced due to frequent floods and droughts despite normal rainfall. "Therefore, India will also have to think afresh to deal with this problem."

The environmentalist said that to deal with this issue, Tarun Bharat Sangh, water fraternity and supporting organizations will organize 'National Water Panchayat' in Delhi on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Pointing to the increasing drinking water problem in metros and villages, he blamed over-exploitation of groundwater and climate change for the crisis.

Singh suggested that the transition from water scarcity to abundance requires a decentralized community water management system.
