Thane, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Tuesday urged the state government to immediately declare summer holidays in schools in view of the scorching heat.

In a Facebook post, he said, "The maximum temperature is hovering around 4 degrees Celsius in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts and Konkan region of Maharashtra. The situation is similar in other places in Maharashtra. It has been declared that there is a heat wave in Wave of."

This raises the question as to why the weather department did not predict such extreme conditions, he asked.

"With the school session still going on and summer vacations not yet started, parents are worried about the well-being of their children. Although guidelines are in place due to the Model Code of Conduct, the government needs to take necessary steps and schools There is a need to declare holidays to ensure the safety of students,” he said.

The MNS chief said that by making accurate weather predictions, one can prepare for the projected climate change and plan one's work accordingly.

Thackeray said, amid these challenging circumstances, citizens of Maharashtra need to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the heat wave.

He also urged people to arrange drinking water for homeless people as well as animals and birds.
