Etawah (UP), A man allegedly killed his wife with a knife and later consumed poison in a village here. Police gave this information on Saturday.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Satyapal Singh said that on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, Brijesh Kumar attacked and killed his wife Seema Devi (38) with a knife in Loknathpur village.
Singh told that when the family members woke up in the morning, they saw Seema's blood-soaked body, but Brijesh was missing from the house.
Later Brijesh's body was found lying among the trees outside the village. The SP said that a bottle of poison has also been recovered from the dead body.
Brijesh's father Rameshwar Singh informed the police about the incident.
"According to the statements of the family members, it appears that the couple had an argument on Friday night following which the man took the extreme step," the officer said.
Police have sent the bodies for postmortem and started investigation.
