Chennai: Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to bowl against India in the first Test of the two-match series here on Thursday.

India have gone with three fast bowlers in their playing eleven – Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj and the spin pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Bangladesh have also selected three pacers on the seam-friendly Chepauk pitch.

This is the first time in 21 Test matches that a team won the toss and opted to bowl in Chepauk. The last time a team was selected for bowling here was in 1982.
