He said this in response to questions from journalists about the possibility of Darshan escaping action due to his wealth and muscle power.

Dr Parameshwara reiterated, “They (Darshan and his associates) were arrested in connection with a murder. Based on the findings of the investigation, officials will initiate action. Law is equal for everyone. It is the same for philosophy and God. Therefore, no one should break the law.,

Dr. Parameshwara also said that the police will also investigate the aspect of Darshan being a habitual criminal.

Asked whether Darshan would be declared a history-sheeter by the police department, Dr Parameshwara said the decision would be taken after the police report and recommendations were available and added that the police were free to invoke any section of the law.

“Actor Darshan could have filed a complaint regarding victim Renukaswamy sending derogatory messages to his wife. If a complaint had been lodged, the police would have taken immediate action. The murder could have been averted and a life could have been saved,” said Dr Parmeshwar.“Legal action will be initiated. The police have a free hand and they will continue the investigation,” said Dr Parameshwara.

Asked whether the government would provide assistance to the victim's family, Dr Parameshwara said it was yet to be seen.

“I will talk to the Chief Minister about giving compensation to the family,” he said.

Darshan, his second wife Pavitra Gowda and 11 others were arrested on Saturday for the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga.

Investigation revealed that Renukaswamy was a fan of Darshan and had sent abusive messages to Pavithra Gowda on social media because she supported the actor's first wife and his son.The victim was kidnapped, brought to Bengaluru, kept in a shed and brutally tortured. The victim is survived by his parents and a pregnant wife.
