New Delhi: As part of its investigation into the murder of BJP leader Ratan Dubey by suspected CPI (Maoist) cadre, the NIA conducted extensive searches at a dozen places in the Naxal-hit area of ​​Chhattisgarh.

Dubey was murdered on November 4 at the Kaushalnar weekly market in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district during the 2023 assembly election campaign. According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation so far, he was killed by armed assailants belonging to the banned CPI (Maoist).

"Acting at premises linked to various suspects and overground workers (OWG)/supporters of Bayanar Area Committee under East Bastar Division of CPI (Maoist), NIA today conducted detailed searches at 12 locations in Toynar, Kaushalnar, Badenhode, Dhaudai and Kongera village,” the investigating agency said in a statement.

During the search, several mobile phones, a tablet and Rs 9.90 lakh in cash were seized along with pamphlets and literature propagating Naxalite ideology, the statement said.

The NIA is continuing its investigation in the case, which it took over from the local police in February. The agency has already filed a chargesheet against one accused.
