Sultanpur (UP), next to Amethi, in Sultanpur, another Gandhi, BJP's Maneka Gandhi, is locked in a tough race with rival Samajwadi Party.

Mayawati-led BSP's party candidate Udraj Verma, who hails from the OBC Kurmi caste, is causing trouble for the BJP as well as SP candidates, but Akhilesh Yadav-led SP candidate Ram Bhual Nishad is facing more trouble. Damage has been done. Verma threatened to divide SP's OBC votes.

Maneka Gandhi, who is contesting from Sultanpur seat of Uttar Pradesh for the second consecutive time, had won the last election by a margin of about 14,00 votes. This time she is working hard to win by a good margin.

Maneka Gandhi said in an interview that her focus is on local issues and said that this time her victory margin will be bigger.

She has been mostly fending for herself so far. Among the top BJP leaders, only Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has campaigned in Sultanpur, where voting is to be held in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 25.Adityanath addressed a meeting in his favor in Kazipur on Wednesday.

His son Varun Gandhi, who was denied the saffron party's nomination from Pilibhi this time, is expected to join him on the last day of campaigning on Thursday.

Neither his nephew Rahul Gandhi nor his niece Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have come to campaign against him.

On Wednesday, Mayawati reached Sultanpur and attacked both BJP and Congress.

Maneka Gandhi says neither the Ram temple nor the denial of ticket to Varun Gandhi is an election issue in her constituency as people are more concerned about their problems and the MP's reactions to their concerns.

Sultanpur was separated from Amethi in 2010.

Varun Gandhi was its first MP while Maneka swapped seats with him in 2019 and I am contesting the elections for the second consecutive time.

BJP District President RK Verma said that people here have positive thinking towards "Modi-Yogi" (Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Adityanath).He said that common people have got toilets, houses and free food grains under various schemes.

He said, "Maneka ji helps whoever comes to her for help irrespective of his 'jaat-dharma' (caste and religion)."

SP spokesperson Anoop Sanda says that Maneka is not a permanent resident here. She comes from Delhi and stays here for a week or 10 days every month.

“She doesn't go beyond five kilometers from the city on normal days,” he said.''He said that people look at Akhilesh Yadav in a positive light.

Ram Bihari in Sultanpur market said, "Maneka Gandhi is a kind woman. She does not question anyone's Jat religion while solving people's problems."

Another resident Manoj Kumar said that Maneka Gandhi is a big leader and gets the problems of her constituency solved with the help of the Prime Minister and other Union ministers.

Maneka Gandhi has also gone to campaign in Muslim dominated areas.

“She does not discriminate on the basis of caste or religion against anyone who comes with her problem,” says resident Qamaruddin Alam.,
