New Delhi: An e-rickshaw driver here allegedly drugged a 25-year-old woman, raped her and robbed her. Police gave this information on Thursday.

Police have arrested Mohammad Umar (24) from Kotwali area of ​​North Delhi in the case.

“A PCR call was received regarding robbery at Kotali police station on May 26. A team was sent to the spot.A woman was found injured and bleeding profusely. His three-year-old son was sitting near him,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Manoj Kumar Meena.

He said that the woman, hailing from Bihar, was taken to the hospital and her medical examination was done.

According to the police, the woman was going from Bihar to Punja to meet her husband along with her 3-year-old son.On May 26, she got down from the train at New Delhi Railway Station and went to Sadar Bazaar. While returning to the station in the e-rickshaw, the driver allegedly offered her liquor, following which she fainted, the DCP said.

Meena said, "According to her statement, the rickshaw puller took her to an isolated place where he raped her. When she protested and tried to raise noise, the rickshaw puller hit her on the head with a brick. "

“She fainted again and when she regained consciousness she found that her mobile phone and Rs 3,000 in cash were missing.,

"We formed a team and started investigating the case. They examined around 50 CCTV footage and detained a battery rickshaw," he said.

A search was launched to identify and arrest the accused. About 150 rickshaw owners were investigated. Omar was arrested on 29 May. Meena said, police have recovered the woman's mobile phone and the rickshaw used in the crime.He said, Umar was earlier involved in a robbery case.

Police said an FIR has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison etc. with intent to commit crime) and 379 (theft). . code. He said further investigation is underway.
