Bareilly (UP), an 18-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man from her village, police said on Wednesday.

According to the victim's father, the incident took place on June 21 when his daughter, a BA final year student, was going to college. Additional superintendent of police, rural, Mukesh Chandra Mishra said Vishal Gangwar met her on the way and offered her a lift.

Mishra said, they alleged that Gangwar made his daughter drink intoxicating liquor, due to which she became unconscious and he raped her.

The father also told that the victim suffered injuries on her private parts, due to which she had to undergo surgery, Mishra said. At present he is undergoing treatment.

Based on the father's complaint, an FIR was registered against Gangwar under sections 376 (rape) and 328 (causing hurt by giving poison or any injurious substance to any person with intent to commit or facilitate the commission of an offence) . He said that efforts are being made to arrest the accused.

Police station in-charge Fatehganj MM Chaturvedi said that a detailed investigation of the case is being done. Medical examination will be conducted to find out the exact reason behind the operation.
