According to the latest bulletin, heavy rain is likely to occur in districts including Porbandar, Junagadh, Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli on June 30.
Heavy rain is expected in Junagadh, Somnath, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Panchmahal, Dahod and Chhota Udepur on July 1. On July 2, heavy rain is likely only over Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli, while light rain is likely elsewhere in the state. Finally, heavy rain is expected over Banaskantha in North Gujarat as well as Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli on July 3, while other areas may receive light rain.
Meanwhile, an umbrella fell at the passenger pickup and drop area outside the departure terminal of Rajkot airport at Hirasar amid heavy rain in Rajkot. The temporary terminal, operated by the Airport Authority of India since last year, is awaiting completion of the permanent terminal by August this year.
The incident, following the recent fatal collapse at Delhi airport, raises concerns over structural safety measures amid ambitious architectural designs. Officials are investigating the incident to find out the cause of the building collapse as Gujarat prepares for continuous heavy rains in the coming days.
