Earlier in the day, the government ordered a CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2024.

IMA congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister J.P. Nadda and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for their prompt response to its concerns regarding the examination controversies.

"We express our gratitude to the Ministry of Education for transferring the investigation into 'irregularities' in the NEET UG examination to the CBI for a thorough investigation," the apex healthcare body said.

IMA further said that it is grateful to the government for removing NTA Director General Subodh Kumar Singh and assigning additional responsibilities to Pradeep Kumar Kharola as his successor.

"We commend the government for enacting stringent laws to address 'malpractices and irregularities' in competitive examinations," the IMA said.

In cases of organized crime involving examination authorities, service providers or other institutions, offenders can face imprisonment of up to 10 years and a minimum fine of Rs 1 crore.

"Current students are the future of India and it is important that important competitive examinations are conducted with utmost diligence and confidentiality," IMA said. He urged the government to take immediate action to ensure counseling for admission to medical, dental. And other courses start on time.
