New Delhi, Swedish furniture retailer IKEA on Tuesday said it has partnered with global logistics company Rhenus to support its e-commerce expansion and deliveries to customers in Delhi-NCR.

Ikea said in a statement that the company has signed an MoU with Rainus to "enhance the home delivery experience" for customers in the Delhi-NCR region.

It said the move is aimed at supporting the growth of IKEA's e-commerce expansion and ensuring fast and sustainable deliveries to customers in the region.

Under this collaboration, Rhenus will set up a warehouse facility capable of storing and supplying over 7,000 products. The warehouse is expected to be operational early next year, the company said.The company said the initiative will ensure seamless doorstep delivery for customers in the Delhi-NCR region, marking an important milestone in IKEA's expansion in India. The move will enable it to fulfill most orders within 24 hours.

Located in Gurugram, the facility is spread over 150,000 square feet and is well connected by rail, road and air. “It will fulfill hundreds of orders per day and also create hundreds of employment opportunities, create a diverse and inclusive workplace and build on industry-best sustainability practices,” the company said.

IKEA opened its first India retail store in Hyderabad in August 2018.Currently I have three big stores in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru and two city stores in Mumbai. It plans to enter Delhi-NCR with two large shopping centers with integrated IKEA stores in Gurugram and Noida. The Gurugram project is expected to start by next year.
