CHENNAI: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras on Friday launched a postgraduate MBA program in Digital Maritime and Supply Chain aimed at working professionals.

The two-year programme, developed by the Management Studies and Ocean Engineering departments with industry partner i-Maritime Consultancy, will equip working professionals with the essential skills in maritime trade and supply chain management.

The program was launched at the IIT, Madras campus in the presence of industry professionals, faculty members and students.

“This innovative program is designed to enhance the expertise of professionals and entrepreneurs in solving the complexities of modern maritime and supply chain industries,” said Professor V Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras.

Candidates with 60 percent marks in any undergraduate degree program and two years of full-time work experience are eligible to apply.

“Our goal is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of how digital technologies can optimize operations and fuel strategic growth,” Kamakoti said in a press release.

Selected candidates will be able to learn from cutting-edge digital technologies such as Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Blockchain, thereby enhancing the students' ability to meet modern maritime challenges.

The program fee is Rs 9 lakh and scholarships up to 50 percent of the course fee are available, the release said.
