In a first of its kind initiative by the state secondary education department, 169 assistant teachers and lecturers from government high schools and intermediate colleges have been selected to undergo a five-day residential training program at the prestigious institute, officials said.

About 111 teachers from 46 districts of the state, who teach science to high school students and physics, chemistry and biology to intermediate students, will undergo residential training at IIT-Gandhinagar in Gujarat from June 5 to 9.

Similarly, training of 58 mathematics teachers is proposed to be conducted in the institute from 24th to 28th June.

The cost incurred by teachers in attending the training to be conducted at government expense will be reimbursed by the concerned District Inspectors of Schools (DIOS).

Teachers have been asked to carry laptops with them so that classroom teaching and use of digital content can also be imparted during the training sessions.

Uttar Pradesh Director General (School Education) Kanchan Verma has directed all DIOS to relieve the selected teachers.

He has also directed the DIOS to ensure that the selected teachers reach IIT-Gandhinagar a day before the formal start of their training workshops.

Five teachers from Prayagraj will also go to Gujarat for training.
