Dahod (Gujarat): A Gujarat cadre Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a revolver at his home in Gujarat's Dahod town early Friday, police said.

Dahod District Superintendent of Police Rajdeep Singh Jala said that RM Parmar (56) shot himself with his revolver at his residence at around 5 am.

"Parmar committed suicide using his revolver. He has not left any suicide note. We have sent the body for post-mortem and started investigation to find out the reasons for this extreme step," the officer said. "

Parmar joined the State Forest Service as a Range Forest Officer and was promoted as an IFS officer in 2022.

He was the Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) of Social Forestry Division in Dahod.

Parvat Damor, a local community leader, said, "Parmar's family members rushed to his bedroom after hearing a loud noise. They saw him lying in a pool of blood and realized that he had shot himself in the head with his gun."
