New Delhi: Spin great Anil Kumble believes that considering the current form, if India decides to play just two specialist fast bowlers in the West Indies leg of the ongoing T20 World Cup, then Mohammed Siraj will be replaced by left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep. Space should be made for the lion.

Arshdeep performed lethally in India's seven-wicket win over America in New York on Wednesday, taking four wickets for just nine runs.

Jasprit Bumrah is India's preferred choice and Kumble has no doubt that Arshdeep should team up with all-rounder Hardik Pandya. This will help India field an extra spinner on slow Caribbean pitches.

"I think the way he (Arshdeep) bowled the last over against Pakistan, and the way he can bowl in different areas in a T20 game, I like it," the former India coach told ESPN Cricinfo. “Looks like that definitely puts him ahead of Mohammed Siraj.”

"If India opt to go with only two fast bowlers and Hardik Pandya. Then yes, in that sense, plus he gives you extra variety with his left-arm pace. So overall, he should be happy. "

Arshdeep has performed well for India in the three T20 World Cup matches so far, taking seven wickets at an economy of 6.225 and a strike rate of 10.28.

In comparison, Siraj has taken just one wicket in three matches at a strike rate of 66.

India will play Canada in their final Group A match in Lauderhill, Florida on Saturday before leaving for the Caribbean.
