Officials said the force has been actively involved in airlifting electronic voting machines (EVMs) and deploying Election Commission of India (ECI) personnel on election duties, as done during previous general or assembly elections. The seven-phase elections were held from April 19 to June 1 while the counting of votes took place on June 4.
The ECI had declared results for 542 out of 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, in which the BJP won 240 seats and the Congress 99 seats.From Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and Nagaland to Gujarat, the ECI team expanded across the country to reach every voter in the country.
"This Herculean task was achieved through close coordination with ECI and CEOs of various states through nodal officers to optimize the utilization of assets keeping in mind safety, weather and road connectivity," the IAF said. "
It said helicopter assets of the Indian Army and BSF were also included in the overall plan for the smooth conduct of the elections.
The transport and helicopter fleets of the Indian Air Force perform various war and peacetime tasks.
