Chhindwara (MP), when Indian Air Force (IAF) Corporal Vicky Pahade left home to join his unit in Jammu and Kashmir after attending his sister's wedding a day earlier, his family was informed about this. Little did they know that this would be the last time they would see him alive.

Pahade (33) was among the five personnel who were injured when terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force convoy near Shahsitar in Poonch district on Saturday evening. He died in a military hospital late at night.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Khatri said that the mortal remains of Pahade, a resident of Nonia Karbal area of ​​Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, will be brought to Nagpur in the neighboring state of Maharashtra by a special Air Force aircraft on Monday.

He said the remains will reach Chhindwara in a special vehicle and the last rites will be performed with a guard of honour.

According to family members, Pahade had joined the Indian Air Force in 2011. He is survived by his wife Reena and son Hardik, whose birthday is next month.

He said that Pahade had rejoined his unit on April 18 after attending his younger sister's wedding.
