Cologne [Germany], former footballer Ashley Cole spoke about the performance of English footballer Phil Foden in the current Euro 2024 and asked the 24-year-old player to show how good he is.
After a stupendous 2023/2024 Premier League season, Foden has been struggling in the ongoing European Cup 2024. The youngster started in England's two previous matches but failed to make a difference. He has played 159 minutes so far in the Euro Cup and has not managed to score even once.
Speaking to beIN Sports, Cole said that he wants Foden to play on the right side of the English team's midfield. The former footballer added that he wants to see Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon play on the left.
"I would like to see Anthony Gordon play on the left, I would like to see Foden play on the right because I feel he has been unfairly eliminated. You can still see it as a break for Saka. I would like Foden to show the world how good he is because We know that," Cole said as quoted by Goal.com.
Cole further added that Foden is a "world class" player and has been "unfairly criticised" for his performance at EURO 2024.
"I feel like he's been unfairly criticized for playing out of position. People might say he's a world-class player, he should be able to adapt. It's fair, I understand that. But what I see of him playing for Manchester City I would like know it." see him play there," he added.
