Bengaluru, Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka minister V Somanna on Sunday said he will work sincerely to fulfill the expectations of the party leadership as a minister in the Narendra Modi cabinet, which will be sworn in this evening.

He said he has no expectations regarding the portfolio and will work in the department assigned to him by the Prime Minister with the aim of ensuring that the benefits of the government reach the people.

"Our party gave me a chance from Tumkur, I won from there, I have fulfilled various responsibilities given by the party. Keeping all this in mind, our state and central leadership have given me this chance. I am grateful to them and Tumkur. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi after meeting PM Modi, he said, using his 45 years of political experience, he will honestly fulfill the responsibility given to him by serving the people of the country.

"The challenge before me is to ensure that the benefits provided by the government reach the people of the country equally," he said.

Somanna won the Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency against Congress's SP Muddahanumegowda by a margin of 1,75,594 votes.

When asked about the meeting with PM Modi, Somanna said, 'In a friendly manner he (PM) talked to us and gave advice on various subjects, and to work to fulfill the intention with which we are being made ministers. Told to.'
